UPP/2 ON THE ROAD cyclist training is offered to year six children in Hounslow Schools. If you have already done UPP/1 in the School playground when you were in year five or you want to get experience cycling on the road this is a really great introduction to learning the skills needed to be a safer cyclist.
The first lesson takes place in the playground or off the road and checks whether your bike is in a roadworthy condition and we also check to see if you have enough skills and confidence to begin the road cycling, If time permits the on road training will begin. All consecutive lessons will involve cycling on the road in small groups developing the skills necessary to deal with situations such as road junctions, roundabouts and any other traffic problems that you meet on most everyday journeys.
Your course is run by experienced professional instructors and the training will take place in small groups with no more than five cyclists per one instructor. You will be using roads in and around your School or College if your doing a Schools based course during the School day. If you're doing a weekend course or extra some training they will be alternate Saturdays from Hounslows Civic Centre.
The London Borough of Hounslow is working in partnership with Cycle Experience to deliver cyclist training of the highest standard "Bikeabilaty" . The good news is if you do not meet this high standard first time round you can do extra free training to make sure you do.
